Mayor Sara receives US donations for Davao City’s fight vs Covid-19

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio accepted Wednesday, August 26, the donated hygiene kits and personal protective equipment from the United States.

US Ambassador Sung Kim virtually handed over hygiene kits donated by USAID and PPE provided by the US Defense Threat Reduction Agency to the presidential daughter to boost the city’s battle against coronavirus disease.

“These efforts are the result of a longstanding special partnership between the United States and the Philippines. While the pandemic tests all of us, I know from my four years in the Philippines that the deep bond between our two countries will help us meet this challenge. In fact, I’m confident that we will come through this stronger together,” Kim said.

USAID, together with American company Procter & Gamble, will also provide 1,450 hygiene kits for Davao City, the hometown of President Rodrigo Duterte.

To date, the US has provided nearly 1 billion pesos ($20.5 million) to support the Philippines’ #COVID19 response.
