Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has decided to undergo “voluntary monitored home quarantine” after her exposure with some individuals who are also under isolation due to coronavirus disease threat.
In a statement, Duterte-Carpio has signed up as a person under monitoring (PUM) with the Davao City Health Office.
She said that one of her staff was unwell Wednesday night and is also now listed as a PUM.
Last Wednesday, March 11, the mayor had also a lunch meeting with Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, chair of the Senate committee on environment, in Manila and discussed important matters for Davao City.
Gatchalian on Wednesday night also said that he would subject himself under quarantine after his exposure to a COVID-19 patient who was one of the resource persons in his committee hearing at the Senate.
“While Mayor Sara has not suffered from flu-like symptoms, she chose to undergo self-quarantine to protect others if she may be found to be sick in the next few days. She is now confined in an isolated bedroom at her residence and will continue to work through emails, messaging, and videotelecon,” a statement from the mayor’s office said.
“All those who need the attention of the Mayor may directly message her through her mobile number,” it added.
