Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio in jest said Tuesday that she will run for vice president.
Duterte-Carpio made the joke during the interview with reporters when she attended the hearing of the petition for registration of her regional party Hurpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) at the Commission on Elections headquarters in Manila.
“Vice president? Joke only,” she said when asked if she is open to run for any position in government.
The presidential daughter said she has not decided yet if she will run in the 2019 mid-term elections.
By “tradition,” she said her family makes political decision “one or two months” before the elections.
Duterte-Carpio added the decision depends on the availability of funds, winnability and the opponents.
She said that even her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, did not advise her on what position to run for.
“It’s up to us to decide,” she said.
Duterte-Carpio earlier said she might run again for mayor of Davao City or congresswoman.
