Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has expressed hope to accelerate the vaccination drive to slow down the trend of coronavirus disease cases in the city.
“We have already consumed all our supply of Pfizer vaccines. What we are using now is the Sinovac for the A4 category or frontline workers. Hopefully, we can speed up our vaccination to slow down our cases even if we cannot achieve herd immunity in time – that is our hope,” the mayor said.
Citing data from the Davao City Vaccination Cluster as of July 4, the local government said a total of 248,285 were already given as first dose while 52,038 were administered as the second dose.
Those who have received two doses are considered fully vaccinated.
The Davao City government is expecting more deliveries of Covid-19 shots as the National Covid-19 Task Force promised to send more vaccines, especially in areas frequently experiencing case surges.
As of July 5, the city has recorded 25,740 Covid-19 cases, of which, 4,456 are active, 20,382 have recovered and 902 have died.
