Davao City has ordered the suspension of all domestic air travel to and from the city to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
In Executive Order No. 13 Series of 2020, the local chief executive said the suspension of domestic flights at the Davao International Airport will be for 14 days from Thursday, March 19.
“Mayor of Davao City, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order the suspension of all domestic air travel to and from Davao City at the Davao International Airport beginning 00:01H on Thursday, March 19, 2020 and the succeeding fourteen (14) days or when the Infectious Disease Specialists shall deem it satisfactory to lift the prohibition, whichever comes earlier,” she said in the Order dated March 17.
She said Davao City has to abide by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF) Resolution 11 prohibiting unnecessary travel and to enforce more stringent measures to prevent the virus from affecting Dabawenyos.
Duterte-Carpio issued earlier an EO initially banning flights from Clark to Davao City to deter passengers from Manila coming to Davao City.
President Rodrigo Duterte has placed the entire Luzon, including Metro Manila, under enhanced community quarantine. #
