Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio issued Thursday an executive order, extending the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the city until April 26.
Under EO No. 24, Series of 2020, Duterte-Carpio said that the epidemiologist and infectious disease specialist doctors demand that people stay in their houses to arrest the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infection.
“It becomes necessary to extend the enhanced community quarantine to abide by the recommendation of the Department of Health,” she said, adding that the ECQ shall be extended until 11:59 p.m. of April 26.
“Upon approval of medical specialists, a Community Quarantine shall be re-implemented on 00:00 of 27 April 2020. A separate Executive Order shall be issued for this purpose when the approval is duly given,” she said.
The ECQ in the city was supposed to expire on April 19 after it became effective on April 4.
