Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said that the local government has been closely coordinating with the Department of Health (DOH) and other national government agencies on the measures to take to prevent and control the spread of the novel coronavirus (nCoV).
This as the presidential daughter called for sobriety and asked the public to stop spreading misinformation, which could aggravate the situation.
“We have placed health standards to avert the feared spread of the virus. People showing symptoms and have been suspected as possible cases were closely and properly monitored by our health professionals trained to handle these cases,” she said.
The DOH has confirmed the first case of nCoV in the country involving a Chinese woman from Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus, in China.
She was admitted in one of the government hospitals in the country after experiencing a mild cough.
