General Santos City Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera made Wednesday, May 20, a surprise inspection at the different malls in the city to check if the minimum health standards are being enforced.
City Police Office Chief Col. Aden Lagradante accompanied the mayor.
The city government said one of the measures that the mayor checked was the proper observance of social distancing.
“Tiningnan din nila ang mga presyo ng mga pangunahing bilihin gaya ng bigas at mga face masks,” it said.
The mayor, who was wearing a face mask, also made a random check of the shoppers to determine if they were following their scheduled market day.
As of 5:00 p.m. of Tuesday, May 19, there was one confirmed coronavirus disease (Covid-19) case in the city, with one recovery and zero death.
There were seven suspected coronavirus patient who were admitted in the hospital, 23 discharged, 12 outpatient, and six deaths.
