Mayor Rivera inks deal with Gencofed

General Santos City Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera has signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with General Santos City Cooperative Federation (Gencofed).

“The MOA signing is for the Cooperative Month 2021. It is a two-million funding na galing sa LGU for the sectors. The composition of this is parang Tuna Festival ni Cooperative na may activities, seminars, mga capacity building activities. So 63 percent of this is mga prizes ng different competitions,” said Gencofed chairperson Joeman V. Trono, who represented the cooperative during the signing ceremony held recently at the City Mayor’s Office Mini-Conference.

Gencofed is a secondary cooperative that is composed of more than 140 cooperatives in the city.

“With the help of CEMCDO (City Economic Management and Cooperative Development Office), which is the secretariat of the cooperative sector, napabilis yung activity, pati yung linkages kasi we are 140 plus cooperatives here in GenSan, so imagine kung paano mo sila ma-iisa in celebrating the Coop Month. Vital si cooperatives because it is a business enterprise, so malaking tulong din sya sa ekonomiya ng General Santos City,” Trono added.
