Tagum City Mayor Allan Rellon signed Thursday, August 20, a memorandum of understanding with a private land owner for the use of his property for the agriculture program of the local government.
The city government said Bong Castrence offered his vacant lot located at Barangay La Filipina to be utilized for the Enhanced Tagumpay Gulayan Program (ETGP) initiated by the City Agriculture Office.
Some 15 beneficiaries under the ETGP, along with the graduates of the local government’s STAND Program, single parents, and indigent families, will make use of the lot for the purpose of cultivating the area for farming.
“This will serve as a livelihood for the said beneficiaries as they will be assisted in selling their grown produce via the LGU’s Marketing Assistance Program, as soon as their crops will be harvested. They shall also receive allowances for the maintenance and cultivation of the area, as part of the Emergency Work Program (E-Work) of the Public Education and Employment Services Office (PEESO),” the city government said.
