Iligan City Mayor Celso G. Regencia has signed an executive order creating a task force that will oversee the implementation of the single-use of plastics and styrofoam containers.
Executive Order No. 137, Series 2019 “Creating the Single-Use Plastic and Styrofoam Task Force” was signed on August 22.
This was pursuant to City Ordinance No. 19-6814, entitled “An Ordinance Amending City Ordinance No. 14-6219, By Prohibiting the Selling and Using of Single-use Plastics and Styrofoam for Dry and Wet Goods in Households, Schools, Hospitals, Shopping Centers, Malls, Restaurants, Markets, Retails Stores and Similar Establishments in Iligan City, Including the Local and National Government Offices,” the EO read.
“(The) Task Force shall undertake the monitoring and strict implementation of the prohibition in the single-use of plastics and styrofoam,” it added.
Regencia, thru Councilor Petronilo G. Pardillo, who is the chir of the Committee on Environment and Solid Waste Management, heads the task force.
The Order shall take effect immediately.
