Mayor Flores temporarily bars contact sports, non-essential gatherings in Malaybalay City

Malaybalay City Mayor Florencio T. Flores Jr. has ordered the suspension of the conduct of contact sports and other non-essential gatherings in the city.

Flores, in Executive Order No. 170, series of 2022, issued Monday, January 10, cited the sudden increase of Covid-19 infections as noted by the City Health Office for the past weeks.

“There is a need to impose restrictions on the movement and activities in the City of Malaybalay to minimize the spread of the Covid-19 virus in the City of Malaybalay,” he said.

With that, Flores ordered that the conduct of all contact sports be temporarily prohibited in the city.

He also temporarily barred the holding of non-essential mass gatherings and events.

“Social gatherings which have been scheduled prior to this Order shall be closely monitored by the Malaybalay City Covid-19 Emergency Operation Center to ensure strict compliance with the minimum public health protocols by the participants,” the mayor said.

He directed the City Covid-19 Emergency Operations Center, City Police Station, all barangay officials, and all concerned offices to strictly implement the provisions of the Order.

The EO shall take effect immediately until sooner revoked or amended.
