Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph A. Evangelista has suspended the classes in public and private schools in the city for one week as aftershocks could still be felt in the area.
The city government said it was not yet safe to hold classes.
“Ang kanselasyon ng klase ay epektibo ngayong araw at tatagal sa araw ng Biyernes,” it said.
Evangelista also ordered the school administrators to check on the integrity of the school buildings to ensure that it is safe to hold classes there.
The local government said the mayor would no longer allow classes in structures which have huge cracks.
Evangelista also assured that the local government would help in establishing temporary school learning centers. #
