Mayor Constantino checks alternate route connecting Malungon to other towns amid GenSan border lockdown
Malungon Inter-Agency Task Force (MIATF) led by Mayor Tessa Constantino has inspected the site for an alternate route that will connect the town to other municipalities and Provincial Capitol of Sarangani amid General Santos City’s border lockdown due to rising cases of coronavirus disease.
The local chief executive checked the border of Malungon-Alabel, Sarangani via Brgy. Tamban-Brgy. Alegria road.
She expressed her gratitude to the provincial government of Sarangani headed by Governor Steve Solon for prioritizing road construction in the Geographically Isolated and Distressed (GIDA) areas, through the Conditional Matching Grant to provinces (CMGP) Program.
CMGP is a partnership program between the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) that intends to upgrade, rehabilitate and improve the provincial roads across the country. It also advances the capacity of the provinces in the Local Road Management.
“People of Alabel and Malungon are so privileged to be the recipients/end-users of the Provincial Government’s outsourcing effort. In fact, additional 120M budget is allotted for the continuation of the said diversion road from Alabel to Malungon via Alegria to Tamban for the first phase and eventually to Nagpan Highway Junction for the second phase,” Constantino said.
