Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco is set to lead the Zamboangueños in giving heroes’ welcome to three 18th Asian Games medalists, including weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, early next week.
The city government of Zamboanga said the welcome program for Diaz, a gold medalist, Jefferson Loon, bronze medalist for pencak silat, and Eumir Marcial, also bronze medalist for boxing, will be held on Monday, September 10, during the flag raising ceremony at 8:00 a.m. in front of the City Hall.
The three athletes who competed recently in the Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia are all Zamboangueños.
Diaz is expected to receive P300,000, while Loon and Marcial will get P100,000 each.
This is pursuant to Zamboanga City’s ordinance stating that incentives for Asian Games medalists are as follows: P300,000 each for gold medalists, P200,000 each for silver medalists and P100,000 each for bronze medalists.
A motorcade will be held from the Zamboanga International Airport to the City Hall where the special welcome ceremony will be held.
