Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco has hailed the security sector for the successful celebration of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival 2019.
The local chief executive also commended the city officials and employees and other supporting agencies for the “very impressive” execution of various activities during the two-week celebration, with the culmination of the socio-cultural activities Friday, October 11.
Post-fiesta activities, mostly organized by non-government organizations, however, will continue until the end of the month.
Climaco thanked the public for extending their all-out support and cooperation with the authorities in the implementation of the security measures.
“The strict enforcement of the security guidelines were all intended to ensure the safety and protection of the residents and visitors alike,” the city government said.
Climaco formally presented individual certificates of appreciation to the different security agencies/offices as well as volunteer groups during a ceremony held at the City Hall.
The presentation of the certificates was followed by a boodle fight, organized by the mayor, as a token of appreciation to the authorities.
The local government said the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival is the grandest festival in the region and is a reflection of the city’s rich and colorful history and culture. It is celebrated in honor of the Nuestra Senora La Virgen del Pilar, the city’s patroness.
