Mayor Climaco seeks for heightened security for Zamboanga Hermosa Festival 2018
Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco has sought for tight security during the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival 2018, which is set to formally open on October 1.
Zamboanga made the call following the bloody explosions that rocked recently Isulan, Sultan Kudarat and General Santos City, which held their respective festivals.
“We are really appealing to everyone to pray for a very meaningful, safe, and holy observance of the Nuestra Señora la Virgen del Pilar celebration,” the local chief executive said.
Christian Olasiman, head of special events, said that during the preparatory meetings, the security for the event was a top priority.
The no backpacks, no hooded jackets, and no ball caps policy will again be implemented in the upcoming festival, said City Administrator and festival steering committee co-chair Apple Go.
She also urged the residents to always bring IDs for security purposes.
Hermosa Festival 2018 is expected to be bigger with a full October calendar, bigger prizes, and more participation from the city and the region.
The Opening Salvo will mark the beginning of the Hermosa Festival on October 1, and highlighting the activity will be the Pink Parade and the inter-barangay Bandoreal competition.
