Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco has signed a multilateral agreement with the United Kingdom AstraZeneca for over 400,000 doses of vaccine against coronavirus disease.
The local chief executive said the 410,000 doses of vaccines are intended for 205,000 residents of the city.
The local government has allotted P100 million for the purchase of the AstraZeneca vaccine as part of the city’s vaccination program against Covid-19.
The city has also earmarked another P100 million for other vaccine brands.
Climaco said she is set to have meetings with other pharmaceutical companies, such as Johnson & Johnson.
Zamboanga City’s vaccination program will cover 694,696 which is 70 percent of its projected 2021 population of 992,423 inhabitants.
