Mayor Climaco releases guidelines for Eid’l Adha celebration in Zamboanga City


Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco has issued the guidelines for the observance of Eid’l Adha Tuesday, July 20.

“To commemorate the observance of the occasion with reverential solemnity and respect, appropriate measure shall be adopted subject to strict observation of health protocols, for good and health protection of the Muslim populace,” the mayor said in Executive Order No. BC 670-2021, which she issued Monday, July 19.

She reminded the general public to strictly follow the mandatory wearing of face masks and face shields, practicing strict social distancing of at least two meters, bring their own small bottle of alcohol, reducing the time of interaction with persons other than the members of their own household and other similar precautionary practices, whenever practicable.

She said the practice of hearing prayers and sermons through virtual or online media is highly encouraged.

Climaco said the attendees in religious gatherings being done in mosques or other venues should observe a maximum seating capacity of 30 percent of the venue or less.

She said the effectivity of the EO should end at midnight of the officially celebrated Eid Day.
