Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco unveiled Thursday, September 9, a new school building in Canelar Elementary School.
The newly constructed 2-storey 12- classroom building was the second that she inaugurated within the week.
Present during the turnover rites were 1st District Rep. Jawo Jimenez and Councilor Pinpin Pareja, Department of Education (DepEd) representatives and Canelar Elementary School officials and teachers.
The school building forms part of the city government’s new line of infrastructure projects that are designed to address climate change, fully intending to be functional and to ensure the comfort of the people who will use them, the local government said.
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the city’s projects under the Security, Health and Education or SHE program is pursued with more zeal and vigor, it said.
On Wednesday, September 8, the mayor also turned over a climate-resilient school building for the Pasobolong Elementary School.
Climaco said the city puts “premium in the education of our children for education is the key to a better future and better Zamboanga City.”
