Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco has urged the public to participate in the grandest and most popular festival in the region, the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival 2019.
With the theme “Diversidad, Resiliencia y Alegria,” the festival was launched Saturday, July 27, at the Madrid Hall at Palacio del Sur.
Climaco, who led the launching, invited everyone around the globe to come and celebrate the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival with the locals and to experience and explore the many potentials of the city.
The launching was a grand show of colors, music and dances, as a prelude to the myriad of activities that will take place in October.
Both solemn and festive, the Hermosa Festival is a month-long event held every October in honor of Nuestra Señora la Virgen del Pilar, the city’s patron saint whose feast day falls on October 12.
The festival is a celebration of culture, history and faith of the Zamboanguenos.
Christian Olasiman, head of the Special Events Team, said this year’s Hermosa Festival celebration “will be centered on three distinct yet very important core values that defined the bedrock of our communities and our continued resurgence as a people – Diversidad, Resiliencia y Alegria! (diversity, resilience and joy).”
