Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco reiterated Monday, August 10, the crucial role of the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs) in the local government’s response against coronavirus disease pandemic.
The local chief executive graced the first day of the five-day training of BHERT members.
The city government in partnership with the USAID-ReachHealth Project is spearheading the training workshop for BHERTs.
The training, which runs from August 10-14, will have five batches of participants and will discuss various modules.
These include Covid-19 and epidemiology; policy, guidelines and ethico-legal issues and executive orders and ordinances; classification of Covid-19 cases and actions to be taken; assessment of BHERT functionality, composition and roles and functions of BHERT; understanding contact tracing, BHERT’s monitoring and recording roles; monitoring of close contacts; data management; guidelines for conducting routine household visits during Covid-19 pandemic and infection prevention and control among others.
Dr. Noel Tarrazona, USAID-ReachHealth Technical Officer, is leading the training along with the Department of Health, Department of Interior and Local Government and City Health Office.
