Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco urged Monday, March 8, the women to continue to be at the forefront in fighting coronavirus disease.
The local chief executive made the call as she led the city in celebrating the International Women’s Day.
“As we celebrate International Women’s Day, I encourage you as women, never to lose hope,” she said.
“We have a very special gift to help men and the family in the first line of our defense in Covid pandemic,” the mayor added.
Meanwhile, the city government said its Gender and Development Unit has lined up virtual activities as part of the month-long observance of the National Women’s Month.
The virtual activities, in lieu of face-to-face events due to Covid-19 restrictions, include: Online Talakayan featuring Young Women Leaders of Zamboanga City (March 8), Sulong Juana Para Kay Juana – Love Drive (March 12), BUDJANG: The Little Lady Under the Mangrove Tree – Documentary Viewing (March 19), Popularization of Comprehensive Anti-Discrimination Ordinance of Zamboanga City (March 26), and Virtual Women’s Summit 2021 (March 30).
