May 2 non-working holiday in Tawi-Tawi, says Gov Sali

Tawi-Tawi Governor Yshmael “Mang” I. Sali has declared Monday, May 2, as a local non-working holiday in the entire province.

In a memorandum, the governor noted that in the culmination of Ramadan, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) has recommended to President Rodrigo Duterte the declaration of May 3, 2022, as a national holiday in observance of Eid’l Fitr.

Customary to Islamic practice and traditions, the actual celebration of Eid’l Fitr depends on moon sighting, which may either be on Monday, May 2 or Tuesday, May 3.

“Thus, the Provincial Government hereby declare(s) May 2, 2022, a local non-working holiday in the province to allow our constituents to join their families in this important celebration,” Sali said.

Duterte has yet to issue a proclamation for the May 3 Eid’l Fitr celebration.
