The city government of Kidapawan has urged the public to visit the other tourist destinations in the city after it temporarily closed Mt. Apo.
City Tourism Office (CTO) chief Joey Recemilla said while the annual Apo Sandawa Climb has been suspended, the Apo Sandawa Festival to be held at Lake Agco Mahomanoy resort will push through.
The festival features the costume and dances of the tribes living at the foot of Mt. Apo.
Recemilla said that tourists could also visit the boiling lake and enjoy the mud pack, which is said to be good for the skin.
He said the visitors could also go to Paniki Fall in Barangay Balabag and other private resorts.
The local government has decided to close Magpet and Makilala trails in Mt. Apo to avoid a repeat of the forest fire that hit the mountain in March 2016.
The early closure of the trails was due to the El Niño phenomenon affecting the country.
