A Malaysian general heading the International Monitoring Team (IMT)-14 in Mindanao has paid an exit call to Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) chief Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana.

Major General Dato’ Hadji Ya’cob Bin Haji Samiran met with Sobejana Friday, February 7, in Zamboanga City.

Brig. Gen. Francisco Ariel Felicidario III, Westmincom’s deputy commander for administration, led the company-sized honor tendered by military personnel to the Malaysian official in Camp Navarro.

The IMT has been responsible in overseeing the peace process between the government and then rebel Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

The government has forged a peace deal with the MILF, paving the way for the creation of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, which is now headed by MILF chairman and Bangsamoro government Interim Chief Minister Ahod “Al Haj Murad” Ebrahim. #
