Maguindanao Guv Mangudadatu calls for calm as families, supporters of slain Mayor Dimaukon, escorts call for re-investigation

As relatives of slain Datu Saudi Ampatuan Mayor Samsudin Dimaukon and nine of his escorts called for an re-investigation regarding the group’s violent death in an alleged shootout with police in Makilala, North Cotabato, Maguindanao Governor Esmael Mangudadatu urged supports of the slain politiko to remain calm and wait for the official report.

The Maguindanao governor, who is also Provincial Peace and Order Council chair, also appealed to Dimaukom’s constituents not to speculate.

“We should avoid fomenting animosity towards the PNP amid talks spreading … [that Dimaukom and his companions] were intentionally killed by policemen. We should talk and react based on reason, not based on emotion,” Mangudadatu stressed.

The Datu Saudi Ampatuan mayor was earlier identified as one of the politicians in President Rodrigo Duterte’s “narco-list”

Dimaukom and his nine companions were killed last October 28 in Barangay Old Bulatukan in Makilala, North Cotabato by anti-narcotics agents in an shootout after they reportedly refused to have their vehicles searched for drugs.
