Police officers in Lapu-Lapu City rallied for a stricter implementation of the curfew ordinance for minors in the city.

Senior Supt. Rommel Cabagnot, Lapu-Lapu City police chief, called on barangay officials to implement Ordinance No. 179-2009, which prohibits minors from staying in any public places between 10 p.m to 5 a.m.

Cabagnot said that the curfew ordinance was passed to protect children from criminal activities and so that they won’t get caught during police operations.

Cabagnot said that they have already caught 97 children who stayed in public places past 10 p.m. as of Wednesday. Children caught have been returned to their homes.

He also reminded the parents or guardians that they have the responsibility over their children.
