The Lanao del Norte provincial government has distributed free-range chickens to 80 beneficiaries from the municipalities of Balo-i and Tagoloan.
The project of the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) was funded under the 5 percent Gender and Development of the provincial government.
The recipients of the program from the two municipalities were marginal farmers who have severely underweight children as evaluated by the Barangay Nutrition Committee, the local government said.
Forty farmers from Balo-i and 40 from Tagoloan were able to receive five heads of Philippine Heritage Native Chickens – four hens and one rooster – as their capital.
Provincial Veterinarian Fritzie Provido said officials from the barangay and PVO will assist in monitoring the program.
