The Lanao del Norte provincial government has provided livelihood support to livestock and poultry farmers.
The provincial government, through the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO), recently distributed free-range chicken “Manok Pinoy” and ducks “Itik Pinas” at the Agora Complex, Tubod town.
The program was taken under the 5 percent Disaster Risk Reduction Management Fund of the provincial government with a total project cost of P1.492 million that aims to benefit 400 livestock and poultry farmers to help them and hopefully mitigate the adverse effect of the pandemic on their livelihood.
The PVO distributed a total of 1,200 heads of free-range Manok Pinoy, 1,200 heads of Itik Pinas, 240 bags of feeds (5 kgs per chicken and duck), and 100 boxes of Multivitamins (wps).
“The livestock and poultry sector had significantly been affected due to many factors that include the temporary suspension of mass transportation and the closure of some trading posts (Bagsakan Livestock Auction Market). Thus, this program is to help the farmers provide animal health care services of livestock and poultry and eventually guide them in reproduction and re-dispense the chickens and ducks to the next in line beneficiaries,” Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Fritzie P. Provido said.
