Barangay officials in Cotabato City will have to keep on their toes in the anti-drug campaign, lest they get punished for sleeping on the job.
The city government formed a committee that can recommend punishment for barangay officials doing nothing against drug traffickers in their turfs.
Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi said the oversight committee shall oversee the activities of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council.
“If you cannot do your job for one reason or another just tell me. I will not hesitate to accept your resignation,” Sayadi said.
Sayadi chairs the city’s inter-agency, multi-sectoral peace and order council.
The mayor warned barangay officials of harshest action if they are caught remiss in their duty to fight criminals.
With the new body, Guiani-Sayadi said her office can now maximize its security thrusts.
