General Santos City Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera has warned the tricycle drivers that the franchise of their vehicles would no longer be renewed if they would overcharge their passengers.
The local chief executive said the passengers could report to COVID Hotlines the plate number of the tricycles whose drivers would collect fares more than what is allowed under the ordinance.
He said if it would be proven that there were violations of the ordinance, the franchise to operate would not be renewed.
Rivera said the fare is P10 for the first four kilometers and additional P1.50 for every succeeding kilometer.
The government has ordered the observance of physical distancing inside a vehicle to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease, thus, limiting the capacity of a public transportation.
