Surigao del Sur 2nd District Representative Johnny Pimentel is seeking to blacklist French pharmaceutical giant Sanofi Pasteur because of the alleged deaths related to its Dengvaxia dengue vaccine.
The Surigao del Sur politiko cited the three deaths the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) said were caused by the failure of Dengvaxia to prevent dengue.
“Eh hindi sana namatay yung tatlong bata na naturukan ng Dengvaxia. It could be that it was caused by Dengvaxia,” Pimentel said.
He said the government can file a case against Sanofi or blacklist it until the pharmaceutical firm agrees to a full refund.
“Kung pwede nga i-blacklist na ang Sanofi because it is not only Dengvaxia that they are supplying. They are also supplying vaccines for our other immunization programs. I-blacklist sila, wag na pag-supplyin until such time they pay the refund,” Pimentel said.
