Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has expressed his heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the victims of earthquakes that hit Mindanao.
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said the Japanese leader extended his sympathy during his bilateral meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte at the sidelines of the 35th Asean summit and related summits in Thailand Monday, November 4.
“Prime Minister Abe thanked the Philippine President for his participation in the enthronement ceremony and his expression of condolences for the loss and destruction caused by Typhoon Hagibis and of sympathy for the fire incident involving the Shuri castle. Mr. Abe in turn expressed his heartfelt condolences and sympathy in light of the series of earthquakes that occurred in Mindanao,” he said in a statement Tuesday, November 5.
He said Abe also discussed with the President the peace process in Mindanao.
Japan has been extending assistance to conflict-affected areas in southern Philippines. #
