Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has urged the Dabawenyos not to be complacent to prevent surge of coronavirus cases in the city anew.
She made the call amid the rising Covid-19 cases in Metro Manila and Cebu.
“The rising cases in Manila and Cebu will definitely affect us if we repeat the mistakes we have committed last year,” Duterte-Carpio said.
She reiterated that it is not yet the time to be complacent, as the new variants of Covid-19 will drown the city if the second wave of community transmission happens.
The government has reported Covid-19 South African and UK variants cases in the country.
As of March 7, a total of 641 Covid-19 confirmed deaths have been recorded in Davao City with a 4.8 percent fatality rate.
The city mayor has repeatedly reminded Dabawenyos to strictly follow the minimum health protocols, especially when in public places.
