Isabela City BFP holds motorcade for Fire Prevention Month

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Isabela City in Basilan province spearheaded a motorcade Sunday, March 1, as part of its observance of the Fire Prevention Month 2020.

The other agencies which participated in the motorcade were the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) Fire Auxiliary Service, UECI Recon Fire and Rescue, Provincial DRRMO Fire, Kabalikat Civicom and Barangays Doña Ramona, Eastside and Sumagdang.

Isabela City Fire Chief Jasmin Tanog cited the gains of the “Oplan Ligtas na Pamayanan (OLP),” a BFP Response that is a “more adoptive, comprehensive, immersive fire protection program for communities.”

In 2019, two barangays – Doña Ramona and Eastside – were recipients of OLP. For this year, OLP will be introduced to Sumagdang barangay, Tanog said.

According to the city government, during the event, Acting CDRRMO Jamju A. Rivera presented the different emergency services offered by the local government, the Barangay DRRM Package, Oplan RESBAK: Resilient Barangay at Komunidad, and Gawad Kalasag sa Barangay, all of which aims to make the barangays and families more safe, more secure and more resilient in the face of all hazards – natural or human-induced.

For this year’s Fire Prevention Month, the theme is “Matuto ka. Sunog, iwasan na!”
