Misamis Oriental Rep. Juliette Uy will run for governor in the upcoming elections.
Uy, who is currently on her third term as a lawmaker, said she will run “so the province can speed up its progress.”
“We have carefully put in place the physical assets MisOr needs to grow its businesses and generate jobs. We have strongly engaged in the war to subdue COVID-19 in this part of the country,” she said in a statement.
Uy said she and her team “will make sure MisOr reaps the gains from devolution resulting from the Supreme Court’s Mandanas-Garcia ruling.”
The SC ruling gave local government units a bigger share from the collection of national taxes.
