Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco has lauded the health workers and medical frontliners for ensuring that children have received the anti-polio vaccine despite the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.
This as the Department of Health’s (DOH) “Sabayang Patak Kontra Polio Round 3 or SPKP3” is extended until Sunday, August 9.
“We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all our health workers and medical frontliners for their sacrifices and hard work amidst unprecedented public pandemic to immunize our children,” Climaco said.
She said the SPKP3 has been extended to allow health workers time to conduct intensive mop-up vaccination activities, especially in barangays that are affected by lockdowns due to the pandemic.
Despite challenges in the implementation due to COVID-19, the mayor said 195,067 children or 95 percent of the target 205,507 children 0 to 119 months old in 98 barangays have already received the oral polio vaccine since it started on July 20.
