After initially calling for prayers, the Catholic Church finally called for donations for victims of the magnitude-6.7 quake that struck Surigao last weekend.
Caritas Manila, the Church’s social arm, noted a state of calamity had been declared in Surigao City after the quake hit last Friday night.
It appealed for “prayers for Divine protection and for the help we can offer to alleviate their sufferings through our donations in cash and in kind.” (http://www.veritas846.ph/call-donations-victims-6-7-magnitude-earthquake-surigao-del-norte/)
