Gov’t to build transitional shelters in Marawi

Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Assistant Secretary Toby Purisima said the government is planning to develop transitional shelters for internally displaced people (IDP) in Marawi City.

According to Purisima, the shelters will be developed on a 17-hectare land and will have a modular design in consideration of the IDPs’ culture.

The construction materials for transitional shelters are expected to arrive in Marawi by September 8 or 9.

During Monday’s Mindanao Hour in Malacañang, Purisima and Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella also said contingencies are already in place to ensure public safety in light of recent actions of North Korea.
