Gov. Tamayo places South Cotabato under GCQ

South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. has placed the entire province under the general community quarantine (GCQ) and imposed border lockdown within the provincial boundaries.

Executive Order No. 54, which provides for the shifting of the quarantine classification of the province to GCQ, a less relaxed classification, from modified GCQ, is effective until September 30.

“In a bid to curb the growing number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases and to stop the spread of the virus, the province deems it proper to curtail the movement of people in going in and outside the province by placing the entire province under the General Community Quarantine and imposing strict border lockdown within its boundaries,” Tamayo said.

He also said that the imposition of GCQ was made after the South Cotabato Medical Society and the group of government health workers asked the province for stricter quarantine measures in order to stop the spread of the virus, protect and preserve medical health workers and frontliners and prevent the collapse of the province’s health system.
