Davao de Oro Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy shared on Facebook his very healthy and nutritious lunch of longganisa, chopsuey and adlai as rice substitute.
For some who aren’t familiar with adlai, it’s a whole grain alternative that has gained popularity in recent years. With texture similar to al dente pasta, its grains are a bit larger compared to rice, and have a slightly nutty flavor. Gluten-free, high in calcium and dietary fiber – it is the champion crop of the Subanen Tribe and grows particularly in Zamboanga and Northern Mindanao.
