Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Gov. Mujiv Hataman, in his Eid’l Fitr or end of Ramadan message, underscored the importance of unity among the Filipino Muslims in overcoming any struggle.
According to Hataman, Ramadan is a time of both reflection and struggle.
“Our fast embodies the many choices we are faced with in this world: We are taught, at every moment, to submit to the will of Allah; to side with what is kind, just, and good; to cleanse ourselves of negativity; and ultimately, to emerge from every challenge with peace in our hearts and greater clarity of purpose,” he said.
With Allah’s boundless benevolence, he said the Filipino Muslims find solidarity with each other.
“In this togetherness, we found even greater purpose and resolve. Indeed, in breaking our fast every sunset during iftar, we were reminded that unity is integral to overcoming any struggle. Just as wickedness might be contagious, the righteousness of those around us brightens and amplifies our own,” Hataman said.
The ARMM Bureau of Public Information (BPI) said there are close to four million Muslims residing in ARMM.
They will celebrate the three-day Eid’l Fitr this weekend.
Pending the result of moon sighting, this year’s Eid will either start on Friday, June 15, or on Saturday, June 16, ARMM BPI said.
President Rodrigo Duterte has declared June 15 as a regular holiday in observance of Eid’l Fitr.
