Gov Catamco reports pregnant nurse, 2 others survive Covid-19 in Kidapawan

COTABATO CITY – Three patients, including a pregnant nurse, who had tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), have recovered from the illness, health and local officials said Saturday.

Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco broke the good news after the Department of Health (DOH) 12 (Soccsksargen) released late Friday a situation report on Covid-19 that the 29-year old nurse from Kidapawan City has just tested negative for the virus.

The nurse (PH3671) traveled to Abu Dhabi in March to meet her husband, a Filipino migrant worker who had the virus but was “asymptomatic” or showing no signs of the disease.

“I am joyful that PH3671 has survived,” Catamco said in a statement. “Congratulations also to our front-liners. My snappy salute to all of you!”

PH3671 was confined in a patient care center (PCC) in Kidapawan City on March 27, a few days after she arrived in the city from Abu Dhabi.

Dr. Philbert Malaluan, chief of the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force on Covid-19 Command Center, said PH3671 was the second Covid-19 patient to have recovered in North Cotabato after a 45-year-old man from Midsayap town (PH3272) also tested positive for the disease.

PH3272 attended a week-long cockfighting derby in Matina, Davao City, which has been linked to at least 11 Covid-19 deaths.

“He (PH3272) has been out of the PCC after he was tested negative of the virus last week,” Catamco said.

Pointing out that the fight is not yet over, she urged North Cotabateños “to stay vigilant and strictly follow the wearing of face masks, physical distancing, and washing of hands to keep us safe.”

Meanwhile, DOH-12 said aside from the nurse, two other positive patients are now negative of the disease.

PH3268, a 56-year-old man from South Cotabato, and PH3269, a 38-year-old man from Sultan Kudarat, both have travel history to Davao City and had tested positive on April 6.

The two men and the nurse are currently in stable condition, DOH-12 said.

The same report placed the total number of Covid-19 recovered patients in the region at 13: PH145, PH599, PH2173, PH2235, PH2236, PH2240, PH3272, PH3669, PH3670, PH3374, PH3268, PH3269, and PH3671. (PNA)
