The General Santos City government celebrated Monday, January 25, the National Bible Day.
The city government noted that the declaration of the National Bible Day was in accordance to Republic Act No. 11163, which was authored by Senator Manny Pacquiao.
“The Bible, while it is taken as the oldest literature in the world, it contains a message that transforms. And that transforming power heals those who are wounded; restores those who are torn; and unites those who are divided. The bible becomes significant and relevant in every Christian faith believer that it undoubtedly gives aid to the government in the development of the moral character and spiritual foundation of the Filipino people,” said Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera during the celebration.
The last Monday of January and every year thereafter is declared as “National Bible Day” and proclaim the same as a special working holiday, according to RA 11163.
