General Santos City Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera has ordered the vaccination committee of the local Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to prepare the budget for the purchase of vaccines against coronavirus disease.
The local government is eyeing to initially allot as much as P200 million for the purchase of the vaccines, the mayor said.
The budget is on top of the initial P10 million the city government will use for the preparation of the storage, transport, distribution, and administration of the vaccines.
Rivera said the local government is preparing for the budget for the Covid-19 immunization program despite the national government’s guarantee that Gensan will be one of the pilot areas for the national government’s vaccination program in Mindanao.
The city government said it has also identified sources for additional funds to supplement the initial P200 million if needed.
