For the first time, Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) commander Abdullah Macapaar, alias Commander Bravo, set foot in Malacañang Friday, February 22.
Macapaar was one of the MILF commanders who took the oath of office as member of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA), which will govern the newly created Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) that replaced ARMM.
“First time,” he told reporters when asked if it was his first time to set foot in Malacañang.
Macapaar allegedly led attacks in Lanao del Norte in 2008 after failure to sign the Memorandum of Agreement on Ancestral Domain (MOA-AD) between the government and the MILF.
President Rodrigo Duterte administered the oath of office to the 80 members of the BTA, with MILF chairman Al Haj Murad Ebrahim as the chief minister.
