A fire razed some 400 houses made of light materials in Zamboanga City Sunday.
No one was hurt in the incident that took place in Purok 5, Barangay Labuan around 1:05 pm, the city government said.
However, damage to properties has reached P4 million, it said.
The fire reached fourth alarm, declared under control at 2:05 pm and fire out at 3:30pm.
Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, Mayor Beng Climaco has directed the police to closely coordinate with the Bureau of Fire Protection and ensure strict implementation of the Fire Code as well as confiscate gasoline being sold illegally and other fire hazards.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office has earmarked fund for food packs good for two days for the families displaced by the fire.
