An escapee and another drug suspect were killed during a buy-bust operation in Maguindanao that also resulted in the confiscation of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, firearms and ammunition, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
PDEA Director General Aaron N. Aquino said the joint operatives of PDEA Regional Office BARMM, the Army’s 40th Infantry Battalion, and the local police conducted the operation on February 21 against the suspects identified as Abdulatip Pendaliday, alias Grasscutter, subject of the drug operation; Sindatok Pindaliday Ampatua, drug personality with a standing warrant of arrest for violation of Republic Act (RA) No. 9165 and escapee of Maguindanao provincial jail; and Norhamin Pendaliday in Barangay Lipao, Datu Paglas, Maguindanao.
“Ampatua and Pendaliday upon sensing the operation, fired at the operating team who returned fire resulting to their death, while Abdulatip Pendaliday, the subject of operation, eluded arrest,” he said.
Seized during the operation were one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, weighing about five grams, one 5.56 mm rifle.
Also confiscated from the suspects were two pieces of twenty rounder magazine assembly for caliber 5.56 mm rifle with 20 live ammunition, one piece of thirty rounder magazine assembly for 5.56 mm rifle, 70 pieces of 5.56 mm live ammunition, one M14 rifle, two pieces of magazine assembly for caliber 7.62 mm, 30 pieces of 7.62 mm live ammunition, five pieces of 7.62 mm empty cartridges, two pieces of bandolier, two motorcycles, and cash amounting to P100.00.
Cases for violation of RA 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act of 10591, or An Act Providing For A Comprehensive Law On Firearms And Ammunition And Providing Penalties For Violations Thereof, will be filed in court against Pendaliday.
