Hugpong ng Pagbabago’s (HNP) miting de avance on May 9 is set to be a family affair as President Rodrigo Duterte will join his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, on stage in their bailiwick of Davao City.
The President’s attendance was announced Thursday (May 2) by Jefry Tupas, HNP’s coordinator for media affairs.
Sara, HNP’s founding chairperson, expressed a desire to invite her father to be the guest of honor at the party’s final campaign rally during a sortie in Camiguin last week.
“We still want him to be there, kasi Davao City. It his city and he is the president,” she said.
Sara, however, said she plans to tell her father to “behave” at HNP’s miting de avance since not all of the party’s senatorial bets are supported by the President.
“Well, may plano kami na sabihan si President na mag-behave sa mga comment niya kasi hindi pareho ang slate namin,” she said.
HNP is endorsing 13 candidates for senator, or one more than the seats up for grabs in the May 13 elections.
The politikos comprising HNP’s senatorial slate are:
Senator JV Ejercito
Senator Cynthia Villar
Senator Sonny Angara
Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III
